The Guaruja Hub is the result of a partnership between Institute C and Alimentando o Bem (which would translate to Nourishing Good in English).

Alimentando o Bem was founded in 2020, at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, to support residents of Perequê (a low-income neighborhood in the city of Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo) who were already facing serious challenges due to heavy rains that had recently impacted the region.

In 2023, the two organizations joined forces to implement Instituto C’s social assistance methodology in the area. The first step was conducting a territorial study to understand the community’s specific characteristics and how to best respond to the needs of the families living there. Based on this analysis, we began working on forming a multidisciplinary team and designing the approach to family support.

Alimentando o Bem has approximately 400 families registered in its database. One of its internal projects, Moradia Digna (Decent Housing), provides housing assistance to 70 families who used to live in high-risk areas. In this first year of the project, these families will be prioritized for multidisciplinary support due to the vulnerability of their housing situations.
